Types of polyester plasticizers
Jun 09, 2021
1. Tricresyl phosphate (TCP): good flame resistance, heat resistance, oil resistance and electrical insulation, and poor cold resistance.
2. Trioctyl phosphate (TOP): good cold resistance, low volatility, but easy to migrate and poor oil resistance.
3. Polyester polyester with molecular weight between 1000 and 8000, mainly used as oil-resistant plasticizer, with low volatility, low migration, oil resistance, water resistance, and heat resistance. The main varieties are: sebacic acid series, adipic acid series, phthalic acid series, etc. Among them, the sebacic acid series have good plasticizing effect, and the phthalic acid series have poor plasticizing effect.
These ester synthetic plasticizers have high polarity and are mostly used in polar rubbers. As the amount increases, the physical and mechanical properties of the rubber decrease, but the elongation and resilience increase. The use of straight-chain fatty acid esters can improve the cold resistance of the vulcanized rubber, but it is easy to extract.
DOP, DBP, TCP, etc. are commonly used in NBR. DOA, DOZ, DBS, etc. can be used for cold-resistant products, and polyester plasticizers can be used for oil-resistant products. CR usually uses 5-10 parts of petroleum-based plasticizers, but when used for cold-resistant products, ester plasticizers should be used, and polyester plasticizers should be used for oil-resistant products. SBR: When improving processing performance, use petroleum-based plasticizers; when improving cold resistance, use fatty acid and fatty dibasic acid ester plasticizers. IIR: When improving cold resistance, DOA and DOS plasticizers can be used, and when improving oil resistance, polyester plasticizers can be used.
4. Epoxy: This type of plasticizer mainly includes epoxidized oil, epoxidized fatty acid monoester and epoxidized tetrahydrophthalate. Epoxy plasticizers all contain epoxy structure in their molecules and have good heat resistance and light resistance.
Epoxidized oils, such as epoxidized soybean oil, epoxidized linseed oil, etc., have a higher epoxy value, generally 6% to 7%, and have good heat resistance, light resistance, oil resistance and volatility resistance, but are cold-resistant Poor properties and plasticizing effect. The epoxy value of epoxidized fatty acid monoester is mostly 3% to 5%, and generally has good cold resistance, and its plasticizing effect is better than DOA. It is mostly used in products that require cold and weather resistance. Commonly used epoxidized fatty acid monoesters include butyl oxyoleate, octyl ester, and tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol ester. The epoxy value of epoxidized tetrahydrophthalate is relatively low, generally only 3% to 4%, but they have both epoxy structure and phthalate structure, thus improving the epoxy oil Compatibility.
